Ok so this one is a bit off kilter when it comes to the topic of 'our favourites' as it is more of a info for our Above Byron Printing friends rather than places we visit if you know what we mean...
When we first visited Mullumbimby over 20 years ago now to see if it was the place we wanted to settle there were multiple hotel options within town which have now been reinvented into permanent accommodation. Fortunately there are now many options for accommodation including Air BnB , Caravan camping at either Mullumbimby Showgrounds or the Giants footy grounds , hipcamp plus two motels in town - The Middle Pub (see our separate blog for our recommendation for their meals) and Mullum Motel.
A couple of things we do recommend when looking at accommodation within Mullumbimby or the outlying towns such as Mullumbimby Creek, Main Arm, Wilsons Creek etc is firstly transport - we don't exactly have a fabulous public transport system - it's actually fairly non-existent apart from the weekday school buses. Also, if you have a hire care be aware that some of the outlying town property may be AWD (all wheel drive) or even 4WD (four wheel drive) vehicle access only, we also have some super duper huge car stealing pot holes so watch the road ! Also, even with the fancy pants vibe to some of Mullumbimby and huge property prices we are still a rural area with country roads - be aware that many roads do not have lines so ensure you stay on your side of the road (right hand side for those international visitors) and drive to conditions being aware that we have abundant wildlife including birds with bird sized brains that will often be either on the road or run across in front of vehicles. If you need assistance due to wildlife being hit by a vehicle the phone number in Northern NSW is 1300 094 737
Also, when booking accomodation in the Mullumbimby area - if wifi or phone service is important to you be sure to ask your host prior to booking as many of our outlying areas have sketchy or non existent phone and internet service.
Most of all - enjoy your visit to our beautiful Mullumbimby area - please slow down, cheer up and leave no trace ie. take home any rubbish and bad vibes !!
